Two new markets, without touching the core program

How MoonPay turned digital PR into transactional revenue in two new markets.

The pages that actually take payment were invisible in two priority markets. A geo-targeted PR program put 30+ transactional terms in the top three, without disturbing a global program that was already working.

The client
Crypto payments, at global scale.

MoonPay is one of the largest and most trusted cryptocurrency platforms in the world, letting users buy, sell and manage digital assets across more than 160 countries.

Its mission is to make crypto accessible by bridging traditional finance and digital currency, which puts it in one of the most competitive and most regulated search categories there is.

The problem
Strong globally, invisible locally.

Despite a formidable global presence, organic visibility was thin in key English-speaking markets. The gap sat exactly where it hurts: the bottom-funnel conversion pages targeting transactional purchase queries.

Without local authority and locally relevant backlinks, ranking against entrenched regional competitors was not realistic. The mandate was to lift those pages in Canada and Australia without disturbing a US program that was already working.

The solution
Local authority, aimed at the money pages.

A targeted digital PR and link-building campaign, scoped across four workstreams.

Geo-targeted link building

Local authority, in market

High-authority backlinks secured from reputable, locally relevant websites in each target market.

Placements were prioritised within finance, fintech, crypto and technology verticals, to strengthen topical authority and trust signals rather than just raw domain count.

Keyword and market focus

Transactional pages only

Effort concentrated on the transactional purchase pages and their core keywords, rather than the blog.

This supported the global strategy by capturing local high-intent search traffic and lifting the pages that actually drive revenue.

Content alignment and review

Compliance before publication

Every placement was checked against brand, compliance and editorial guidelines before going live, which is non-negotiable in a regulated category.

Monthly link reports were submitted for review and approval, including domain metrics, anchor text and placement URLs.

Performance tracking

Report per market, monthly

Monthly reports summarised acquired links, domain authority improvements and ranking progression for target keywords in each market.

Delivery ran against a committed floor of at least ten backlinks per month, with standing strategy sessions alongside the in-house Head of SEO.

The results
Authority in, rankings out.

Three measures decide whether a link programme is working: authority earned, rankings gained on the pages that convert, and no collateral damage elsewhere.

From Earned Authority To Transactional Rankings

Every placement was chosen to point at one of two conversion pages rather than the blog, which is why a relatively small number of links moved a large number of commercial terms.

Placements were split almost evenly across the two pages, at an average authority of DR 54 and DR 60, and every one was reviewed against brand and compliance guidelines before it went live.

The mandate was explicitly additive: lift the conversion pages in two new markets without disturbing a global programme that was already working.

The programme lifted link authority and, with it, rankings on the transactional terms that actually take payment, solidifying two growth markets without disturbing the global strategy.
